First Marketing Blog Post
Hi, everyone! I'm Makayla. I'm currently enrolled in my first year at LBCC in the business program. After my time here, I intend on transferring to OSU in pursuit of either a degree in accounting, mathematical economics, or-- depending on how this class goes-- marketing!
I've always liked the psychology aspect of marketing. In addition, marketing shows you how you are being targeted as a consumer, and I think it's really interesting in learning the ways companies market to you. For example, I love Taco Bell, and when I see an ad that says that Taco Bell is giving out free doritos locos tacos today, and I tell all my friends about it, I'm marketing for Taco Bell. Who knew?
Anyways, a little more about me: my real hobbies include shopping, going out to eat, and hanging with friends-- all things that I can't do right now. However, my quarantine hobbies consist of embroidering, exercising, bullet journaling, putting on pretend fashion shows in my room, baking, and (most importantly) binge-watching Tiger King.
I'm also continuing to work during the pandemic, since my 18 year old self is considered an 'essential worker'. I'm employed at the Mennonite Village, which is a retirement community. I actually work in the assisted-living unit, and I'm really passionate about what I do. Making the residents' days, in turn, makes my day.
I'm also passionate about a lot of other things besides work. I'm interested in fashion, politics, musical theater, and my family is also a really big aspect of my life. I'm half Filipina, and huge family gatherings with lots and lots of Filipino food are quite frequently held at my house
(pre-quarantine).
In conclusion, I am so excited to kick off this term, figure out this whole online-schooling situation, and learn to never take my physical, in real life, classes for granted ever again.
